There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

 Review

Fallen surprised me, in a good way. From the very first pages, I felt like it will be a very unique read and so it was.

It stars a bit... vague. I try to keep my reviews as spoiler-free as possible, so I won't go into details. I will say that the two main characters are together from the very beginning, throwing love at you like free skittles. Whyyy, you're missing all the fun part! The whole building up of the relationship, the arguments, the understanding when both love each other, everything it's crucial and shouldn't be skipped!

But then, when I thought all hope was lost, the next chapter was called 'Perfect strangers'.

      PERFECT!

At first, it felt like it was a dystopian book. Luce has a... fresh start at a new school that's rather unusual (big euphemism here) where everyone is told what they should and shouldn't do, they're watched every second of every hour, yada yada yada. She gets introduced to the rules, the people, the classrooms, basically to a new life.

All I can say about Luce is that her actions RARELY followed her brain. She was thinking of doing something and then whoops! Blackout. There's a love triangle in this story and I love a very well written love triangle. It could've been great in this story, but it wasn't. In a way, it made me dislike Luce a little bit because even when she was clearly caring more about one than the other, she was still leading the other on. Why, Luce? Why?!

Despite all of this, I did enjoy this book, greatly. It was something new, something interesting and as the story evolves and you get to learn more, it only gets better. There were many things I did not expect and even though I wish the author would've put more emphasis on Luce so I can form a better opinion of her, at the end of the book she manages to make me forget all her bad choices for making a good one. I'm not gonna lie however, I did feel more attached to the other characters.. Luce's new best friend especially, for her playfulness, strength and loyalty.

Overall, it is a good read, maybe a little beyond just 'good'. It has its flaws, it has its great moments. It's a 3.5 - 4 star read.
