Anita Blake may be small and young, but vampires call her the Executioner. Anita is a necromancer and vampire hunter in a time when vampires are protected by law—as long as they don't get too nasty. Now someone's killing innocent vampires and Anita agrees—with a bit of vampiric arm-twisting—to help figure out who and why.

Trust is a luxury Anita can't afford when her allies aren't human. The city's most powerful vampire, Nikolaos, is 1,000 years old and looks like a 10-year-old girl. The second most powerful vampire, Jean-Claude, is interested in more than just Anita's professional talents, but the feisty necromancer isn't playing along—yet. This popular series has a wild energy and humor, and some very appealing characters—both dead and alive.

Review

It's really hard to find a good vampire book or series nowadays, since most of them seem to be a bit Twilight-like. Finally, I found a series where I can safely say vampires are as they're supposed to be. Fierce, beyond beautiful and utterly interesting.
Anita is a strong person, with a big mouth. Very big mouth. She raises the dead, she finds herself in the company of vampires more than she would wish to, so she's pretty much surrounded by supernatural. Despite this and under her tough skin, she's usually scared and that only shows she's still a human being, not a hunter or a cold blooded killer. She sure knows how to act when she's around a vampire, but a certain Jean-Claude gets under her skin. I don't blame her, I mean who wouldn't want someone calling you 'ma petite', someone incredibly attractive and clever, charming like a prince, seductive like a vampire. And he sure knows how to lure you in, here's a little quote from the book that will make you read more...

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to feel my breath upon your skin? My lips along your neck. The hard brush of teeth. The sweet, sharp pain of fangs. Your heart beating frantically against my chest. Your blood flowing into my veins. Sharing yourself. Giving me life. Knowing that I truly could not live without you, all of you.
Yeah. Sexy as hell and dangerous likewise.
The book has a lot of action, sometimes it's even hard to keep up and that's a good thing! It's got characters that you'll fall in love with, the vampire plot is written in a unique, distinctive way from the usual vamp stories and trust me, after you read this, you'll want to go to Guilty Pleasures yourself!
